Located just southwest of Chicago, Blue Island continues to boast a small-town atmosphere with all the conveniences of a large city. Blue Island is ideally situated off I-57 and just 13 miles (30 minutes by car) from downtown Chicago. I-80, I-57 and I-294 link us with Chicago's suburbs and ultimately anywhere in the Midwest. A Ling-Temco-Vought A-7D-11-CV “Corsair II” (c/n D-258) is on display in front of administrative offices located at 12804 S. Highland Ave., Blue Island, IL 60406. The Blue Island Park District was established in 1909. Some of our historic facilities include Hart Park and the Memorial Park Pool. The Pool was built in the 1930's under President Roosevelt's New Deal. It is one of the oldest pools in the midwest that is still operational. ¹
