Background

The “Wings of Gold, Series I” card set provides a nostalgic look at some of the best fighting aircraft of World War I and World War II. This set features aircraft from France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, and the United States. Cards 1-4 show World War I aircraft, while cards 5-18 feature World War II aircraft. There are two unnumbered cards in the set: A Title Card with the set’s Checklist on the reverse side, and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Without captions, the card fronts feature an attractive multicolored in flight action scene with a dominant black border. The card backs contain the card number, set title, card title, a descriptive text of the aircraft, and a brief table of aircraft specifications and performance data.

This series was distributed during 1991 by the Eagle Trading Card Company. The Wings of Gold, Series I was sold online as a complete set of 24 airplane cards, one titled/checklist card, and a paper Certificate of Authenticity. The set was packaged in a clear hard-plastic case.
