Background


This simplistic set of 48 anonymous strip cards features primitive drawings of airplanes. The cards were issued in strips of eight, and were torn apart via roulettes, and are numbered 301 to 348. Cards number 301, 309, 317, 325, 333, and 341 have machine cut straight edges of the left side of the image, with roulette edges on the right side. Cards number 308, 316, 324, 332, 340, and 348 are the opposite with the machine cut straight edge on the right side. The remaining cards have rouletted edges on both the left and the right side. The top and bottom edges of all the cards have machine cut straight edges.

The simple color artwork, features various 1930s era aircraft in flight. The name of the aircraft is presented in a red panel with black lettering underneath the artwork. The reverse side of the card contains the card number, the card title, a brief commentary about the aircraft, and the following tag line … This is one of a series of 48 cards … all printed with black ink. The card titles may vary slightly from the front to Back of the card. The reference number for the series is R132.
