Background
Straight from the Cold War comes this 1949 Bowman Gum set titled America Salutes the FBI - Heroes of the Law.
Known simply as America Salutes the FBI,
this 36 card set consists of pastel color drawings depicting famous cases and arrests, with details and text supplied by "G-Men Detective Magazine." The fronts have white borders, with the card caption printed in a large border underneath the picture. The caption also appears on the reverse side of the card, along with the card number and text. The cards are found with both white and gray backs; blank and transposed backs (containing text from other Bowman sets, have also been found. The latter are no more valuable than normal cards and are collected mostly out of a curiosity or as types.
The American Card Catalog reference number is R701-6.

Wrapper & Retailer’s Display Box
We currently know of only one confirmed wrapper … the 1¢ wrapper. There are rumors of a 5¢ wrapper, however this wrapper is yet to be confirmed. It is logical to assume that there might be additional wrapper variants out there since there appears to have been multiple printings of the set. Your help would certainly be appreciated.
