Background

At first glance, this Airplane Series (40) of collector cards would appear to be a World War II issue. However, two of the cards in the set include the B-36 Flying Cigar (actually a B-36D) and the B-47 Stratojet. The first publication showing both of these aircraft (B-47 and B-36D) was the 1949/50 Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft edition. Therefore this card set had to be circa 1949-50 or later. The manufacturer of this 40 card set remains anonymous. The multi-color artwork is rather simplistic. Some of the cards have nubs on adjacent sides, which indicates the cards were issued in sheet form rather than as strip cards. The backs of the cards are blank. No American Card Catalog reference number has been assigned. The card dimensions are 2 × 3 inches.
