John A. Shupek — John is a retired Aerospace Engineer whose career specialized in Thermodynamics, Fluid Flow, and Heat Transfer. John attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (aka Cal Poly Pomona) and received his Bachelor Degree in Aerospace Engineering in 1964 ... and then his career of 36 years of fun began!

John worked on the following programs:

• Pratt & Whitney’s JTF11D-20/22 (J58) jet engines for Lockheed’s A-12/SR-71A “Oxcart/Blackbird” programs.
• Pratt & Whitney’s JTF-17A (Supersonic Transport) engine.
• Pratt & Whitney’s RL-10 rocket engine.
• Garrett AiResearch/NASA’s ARJ-1C HRE (Hypersonic Research Engine) flown on the X-15A’s Mach 6.72 record flight. (C)
• Garrett ATF3-6 turbofan engines used on the Northrop “Tacit Blue” Stealth Technology Demonstrator Aircraft.
• DoE's Gas Centrifuge Enrichment Program. (Q)
• Northrop F-20A “Tigershark”.
• Northrop’s YF-23A “Black Widow II” ATF (Advanced Tactical Fighter). (SAR)
• Northrop AGM-137 TSSAM (Tri-Service Standoff Attack Missile). (SAR)
• Northrop Grumman’s B-2A “Spirit” stealth bomber. (SAR)
• Boeing/Northrop Grumman F/A-18E/F “Super Hornet”.

Also, during John's career at Northrop Grumman, he served for five years as Curator and Webmaster for the Western Museum of Flight, Hawthorne, California.

John retired in 2000 as one of Northrop Grumman's Program Directors on the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet program.

After retirement, John served as:

• Past President of the Whittier Historical Society & Museum.
• Past President of the Whittier Meals On Wheels
• Webmaster for the Yanks Air Museum, Chino, California (2006-2009)
• Owner and webmaster (Chief cook and bottle washer) of the Skytamer Images (skytamer.com) aviation website since 1998.
